Embrace the Winter Solstice with Yoga: Nurturing Reflections and Radiating Light

As we approach the winter solstice, it's a key turning point, signifying the peak of light in the Northern Hemisphere and the return of light in the Southern Hemisphere. Our connection with nature naturally influences us, and during this darker, colder season, it's common to feel a subtle shift within. Winter brings moments of introspection and tranquility, inviting us to find stillness and reflection.

On December 21, cultures globally recognise the significance of this season. Not everyone finds this time of year easy; it can bring on low moods for some. Simple things like wearing the color yellow or incorporating yellow items at home can add sunshine to life and lift moods. Lumi lights can also help. Personally, I use a lumi light on my desk that brightens my space each morning, making it feel like a sunny day indoors.

Despite the urge to stay indoors, exposure to natural light is essential. Maintain physical and mental wellness with nature walks. Like a complex houseplant, we need light, water, and nurturing. Alongside hydration, practices like Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and nurturing Yoga Nidra offer nourishment to both body and soul.
